A quick recap of the tournament so far: In the first game Drake was victorious in overtime over Evansville and Indiana State managed to come from behind to defeat Illinois State. This means the Nos. 9 and 10 teams won and the Jays will face the Sycamores in the quarterfinals.
A bit about the Jays matchup with the Sycamores: Creighton won the last meeting in Omaha on 71-55 but fell to the Trees in Terre Haute early on in the year. This Indiana State team has seen its share of ups and downs, beating Butler in non-conference play and started strong in MVC play before fizziling out in a last place finish. Their coach, Royce Waltman, is on the hot seat, but tonight's win should help him out ... but a win in the quarters against the Jays might just be enough to save him. Is that enough to fire up the Sycamores. I don't think the Jays will want to find out.
And as a side note to all those traveling to St. Louis for the tournament, please be careful as the roads are still a bit messy with more snow possible tonight and tomorrow morning.
